Advantages/Limitations

Advantage of Technique/Equipment The system enables one to identify over 1900 species of bacteria and fungi using carbon sources as a metabolic fingerprint and has many applications in analysing microbial communities and characterising microbes. Enables thousands of mammalian cellular phenotypes to be identified and is widely used in cell-based assays including testing cells under diverse growth conditions as well as measuring the effects of genetic changes and drugs on cells in culture.
