Advantages/Limitations

Advantage of Technique/Equipment

High heating ramp (500 degrees C/min) can facilitate interpretation of some thermal analysis and avoid thermal degradation before the event of interest. StepScan helps to separate reversible from non-reversible heat flow signals (Tg detection). Effective low temperature measurements from -80 degrees C.

Limitations of Technique/Equipment Destructive technique. Sample may change during the analysis due to the thermal perturbation. Quantitative experiments require calibration.
