Technique Category Chemical Analysis
Technique Raman Spectroscopic Microscopy

Basic Capabilities

Full-featured confocal system accommodating multiple excitation wavelengths with the high spatial resolution. Spectral imaging utilising sample stage mapping. Automatic instrument response correction with NIST standards. Imaging of active / excipient distribution.

Equipment

Equipment Make Bruker Raman Microscope Spectrometer III
Equipment Model Bruker Raman Microscope Spectrometer III

Advantages/Limitations

Advantage of Technique/Equipment High spatial resolution, 1micron, Depth profiling with confocal raman ca 2microns. Non contact/non invasive measurment, ease of sample preparation, sharp spectral features with extended spectral range. Measurment through glass or polymers. Can be used for identification and Quantification of samples. Raman spectra aquired within seconds.
Limitations of Technique/Equipment Cannot be used for metals or alloys, intense heating from the laser can destroy the sample.
